Youngsters learn to sharp-shoot safely at Wilmot Rod and Gun

Chuck Bender, of the Nith River Wild Turkey Conservation Association, watches as 12-year-old Nick Hiuser, of Waterloo, eyes his target and shoots for the first time at the Wilmot Rod and Gun Club’s firing range. Bender invited members of his youth archery class and other first-timers out to the range in cooperation with members of the rod and gun club. Sunday’s class marked the group’s second time at the range after learning about safety and proper handling. The Wilmot Rod and Gun Club provided mentoring for the young hunters in training.
