Local athletes received some appreciation from Wilmot Township at the May 6 council meeting.
This year, New Hamburg won an unprecedented three Ontario Minor Hockey Association championships. The Novice Rep, Peewee AE, and Juvenile rep teams capped strong seasons by winning the 2011 provincial titles.
Council also recognized several members of the Wilmot Aquatic ACES swim club for top finishes at various swim meets.
The New Hamburg Juvenile Rep Huskies won the OMHA championship
