Nith Valley Singers prepare for upcoming season

The Nith Valley Young Singers met in the basement of the Zion United Church on Wednesday afternoon to begin practicing for the spring concert. W-O girls hockey team competes in tournament

Woman dies in highway crash

A woman was killed on Highway 7/8 and Nafziger Road on Thursday after the westbound car she was a passenger in was struck by an eastbound pick-up truck while attempting to make a left turn onto Nafziger at about 4:20 p.m.

The accident snarled traffic in and around New Hamburg until the highway reopened at 9 p.m. following a police investigation.

The driver of the pick-up truck, a 43–year-old Baden man, suffered minor injuries and was not transported to hospital. The two occupants of the car were taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Kitchener, where the passenger was pronounced dead. The injuries to the driver were not life-threatening.

Police have not yet released the name of the victim.

Witnesses to the collision are encouraged to contact the OPP at 519-654-0150 or 1-888-310-1122.
