Waterloo-Oxford once again gave a Christmas gift to local seniors, as students invited their older neighbours to a Christmas party on Dec. 8.

This year’s Senior’s Feast attracted over 240 guests from around Wilmot Township. School staff joined 90 student volunteers to serve the traditional turkey dinner, and also mingle with the seniors.

Santa Claus himself visited, and the school band provided musical entertainment. W-O arranged for two buses to bring the seniors.

“I think the kids realize that they are part of the community,” said grade 12 student Michaela Graham, a feast organizer. “It’s just our way of giving back.”

Students like Sydney Norenberg volunteered to join the tables in the school's cafeteria with over 240 seniors like Jean Gingerich, 80, of Baden.
