New Dundee set to throw Victoria Day party

New Dundee will celebrate Victoria Day with many hours of family events on Monday, May 23.

The town will host garage sales throughout the community, and there will be children’s entertainment and clowns in New Dundee park all morning.

There will also be plenty of food available in the park, as the Board of Trade and Optimist Club run booths. Antique cars will be on display, and a silent auction runs in the park’s bandshell.

The fire department is organizing its all-you-can eat pancake breakfast, starting at 7 a.m. at the New Dundee fire hall.

Celebrations finish with a parade down Main Street and Front Street, starting at 2 p.m. The New Dundee Dodgers junior fastball team will lead the procession.

MP Harold Albrecht will be in town at 2:45 for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open New Dundee’s new baseball fields for the summer.

Victoria Day celebrates the May 24 birthday of Victoria, Queen of England during Canada’s confederation. It also celebrates the current queen.
